Post 9: Problems that I have faced

While I was creating the Hall of Fame website I was trying to get together pictures of all inductees, and it was quite the challenge. Some people wouldn't respond to me, while others would send me multiple emails in a row telling me to add this and add that. I was overloaded with all of these people emailing me, but I was able to handle it. I also faced various technical issues like sites going down and links not working, but usually they were a quick fix. I had to write a story on the Cheerleading team this week, and I receive emails from about 5 different people telling me what to put in the story. Post 8: What I've learned about myself

Post #8 Date(s): 11/8 - 12/4 Activities: Website design, Creating and distributing information Technical Information: Website design(Wordpress), e-marketing (Mail Chimp) Now that I have held this position for almost six months I have learned a lot about what I want in a job. I want to find a job that I will enjoy, I enjoy my internship so I actually enjoy doing my work that is assigned to me. I hop to find a job that I will enjoy just as much as my internship. I also learned that I can be a very efficient worker if I limit the distractions around me. Sometimes I turn on the TV while I crank out a newsletter, but that is not always the best of ideas. Luckily my work has not gotten more intense since football is over. I was hoping that I would be able to keep up the same work after football, and luckily it came true. I only have about two months left in the internship, but my boss claims that she has "big plans" for me, and I have no idea what that means.

Post 7: Affect on my future plans

Now that I have some real experience in the field I feel even more passionate towards the subject. I still hope to go to college in major in business or sport management, and then get a career in the sports marketing field. I have developed many great skills in this internship that will help me in the long run with getting and maintaining jobs in the sports marketing field. Football season is finally over which now gives me plenty of time to work on my internship. It was quite a challenge managing all my time at the beginning of the summer, but now it will be a piece of cake. Now that I have some free time my boss might give me some harder tasks, but hopefully not.

Post 6: Responsibility Changes

Post #6 Date(s): 10/3 - 10/17 Activities: Website design, Creating and distributing information Technical Information: Website design(Wordpress), e-marketing (Mail Chimp) Now that I have been at Apex Cougar Club for several months now I have been given more responsibility, and my boss trusts me more. I now am authorized to post to the website without my boss looking over it first. I also now have my own accounts for all of the sites we use like Mail Chimp and Wordpress. These new responsibilities have made me feel more important and now make me feel like that my work has better quality. Football season is in high gear now, so majority of my newsletters contain football information now. I never even realized how many people read my emails until I looked at it on Mail Chimp and I was blown away that sometimes over a thousand people read my emails. This has caused me to take even more pride in my work, and now I feel even more important.

Post 5: My Contribution

Post #5 Date(s): 9/11 - 9/26 Activities: Website design, Creating and distributing information Technical Information: Website design(Wordpress), e-marketing (Mail Chimp), Online Ordering My main contribution to Apex Cougar Club is to post/communicate with students/alumni about what is going on with Apex Athletics. This is done through various forms including emails and webpages. Through my communication with students and alumni more people are aware what is going on at Apex High School, and more people know when/what athletic events are going on. I also have a role as somewhat of a historian through my contribution to creating the Apex Hall of Fame Website, which I feel very proud about creating. The hall of fame game for football recently occured, so I was happy to be able to help that information to be communicated through the website. It's exciting when your work is finally being shown off to the people that are featured on the website.

Post 4: Internship Expectations

When my boss described what I was going to do at the beginning of my internship, I thought there would be some other very challenging tasks, but, she covered exactly everything that I was going to do at the beginning of the internship.  I do not have control what I do in my internship because I am assigned to accomplish certain tasks, and it is my job to make sure that those tasks are accomplished. School has just recently started so it has been harder to get my work done but I still do get it done. With football, school, and this internship I have become very good at managing my time. Post 3: How the classroom has prepared me

Post #3 Date(s): 8/13 - 8/21 Activities: Website design, Creating and distributing information Technical Information: Website design(Wordpress), e-marketing (Mail Chimp) The website design skills that I have learned from classes like e-commerce have not helped me at all because I am using a different program to create the sites. I have been using Wordpress which makes it a thousand times easier to create and edit web pages. The knowledge of HTML could've been helpful if I was using a program like notepad ++ but Wordpress is nothing like that, there is no coding at all, it's a bit more like dreamweaver. I have had a very chaotic week this past week. I finally finished the hall of fame site, but I didn't finish it without my fareshare of problems. Wordpress was down for a while and I was unable to get on the site for hours. After much trouble shooting I was able to login and finish the site.
